This vintage lithograph of 1966 is by the famous artist Kees Van Dongen. It was printed by the Mourlot studios, in Paris (well-known for having also worked with Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro, among others). This original print depicts a woman playing with a little girl on a beach of Trouville - Deauville. This subject was also used for a poster for a painting Biennale in Trouville-sur-Mer in Normandy (literature: Juffermans, J. & Juffermans J., Jr. (2003). Kees Van Dongen is very famous for his contribution to fauvism (alongside Henri Matisse and André Derain), his portrays of elegant women of the Belle Epoque and his works about Normandy coast : Trouville, Deauville, Cabourg, Honfleur... He depicted a lot of times some of the most iconic aspects of french Normandy, like horse racing, casino, beach, nightlife. He also illustrated Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time, with a lot of Normandy scenes.
