Untitled "La Poule", this unique watercolored trial ("T.P. aquarellé" : "travail préparatoire aquarellé") depicts two hens. This trial was made to prepare and give indication of color to the printer of the print The Hen (part of the twelve works of Bestiaire nécessaire). Hens are among the favorite subjects of the artist.
